The "mac" handcar was made in Wheaton, Il. according to the box!
I wonder what year these were made?

They made several products of which I am aware. I looked long and hard to find a trolley with "reverse" colors. Red body and yellow roof. Found it at York. It is quite hard to find but not too many folks care!
Thanks! I will check out the articles.

Hi, I bought a a train parts lot, and it included a Mac Handcar. When I put it on the track and pushed it to run, it makes a noise and sparks as though it wants to run but it doesn't. Any ideas on what it would take to get it running? Also, the light bulb, and if there was one, the bulb socket are missing. The black wire that used to run to it is there. Does anyone have any infromation on these parts? Thanks.
Lionel2025: I have to get this out quick - family wants to go out to brunch.
See if the thick metal piece at the front actually touches the front axle and bend it forward a bit if so. Of course the copper part of the wheels should be clean.
Nothing so fancy as a light socket on minev - just a clip that I inserted a bayonet bulb in. Remember, they need 18 or 20 volts to go, and shouldn't be run "for long periods of time". They're no Lionel! Hope this helps.
Thanks, I tinkered with the front axle and bend, and lubricated the axles. I had already cleaned the copper on the front wheels. It works like a charm. Can you give a little more information about the clip you used to insert the bayonet bulb? Thanks Much.
Thanks. mine is the same.
