My front pantograph was not sparking. I read some of the old threads and since the flexible joints are how the power gets up to the sparker, a suggestion was to use a film of deoxit on them. And that worked very well. Nice sparking every time the sparking sound is heard.
Just thought I'd pass this along again.
Wonder if Lionel is ever going to release some parts for this engine besides the pantographs. I'd like a rear pilot since mine came from the factory with missing hose detail.
