2nd car done in the set. This was half of the Diner twins - NYC Kitchen Car 475. GGD did a good job with the general prototypical layout of the kitchen. I added the range (where it is prototypically), shelving and cabinets, counter top fronts and sides, under cabinet lighting, paint, stainless and details. The stove has flickering blue and yellow lights to simulate a gas flame. (Looks real nice in person but doesn't photo well.) I obtained as many photos as I could of the kitchen and put as many things as I could in place. I also added extra lights above. Next will be the Diner itself. (Te wires you see with shell off are hidden when it is on. Thanks to Evan Design once again for the great lights.) Hope you like it.

Absolutely fantastic.

Thanks much guys. You are too kind. I can't stress enough how great Evan Designs is. The lights come ready to install complete with a bridge rectifier. This makes it real easy to hook up, especially when the wiring is as crazy as this one was. (to those that don't know, you can't goof up pos and neg, the light figures it out.) In all I added 6 extra lights. (Two in the cramped stove, two above the pantry counter and two overhead. The two in the stove and counter are 1.8mm lights, and the overheads are 3mm. I usually paint them with acrylic paint to dim them down. I did the same in the Observation car. You can tint your light that way too.
This is fantastic. You need to check out a thread on the scenery and structures forum on dinnerware - I gave them your name based on the other car you had done. I'm posting a link there to this thread.
Great work.
EXCELLENT
Just to be able to find photo evidence of what the inside of some of these cars looked like is a major accomplishment. The extra detail you've put into the countertop and pantry is amazing
Is that a cutting board or a big slab of cornbread on the counter?!?!?!?
I can't put cornbread in there, my Doctor won't let me. :-0
To the right side is what they called the pantry, and the left is the cooking area, split by the butcher block area where the waiters would pick up the food. THey'd go out the door to the right (hard to see) and cross over to the next car and serve.
Super Cool really great work .
Your history of customizing your passenger cars has paid off big time with this special car. Just beautiful work!!!!!!! Glad you found this set.
Great peace of art! it's like 20th century dining cars, I never seen this type of kitchen cabinet before.
somehow I missed this thread when it started....so glad I saw it now!! Absolutely stunning work!
Alan
