So after my 5yr old got hooked on trains through our Christmas Tree layouts, I now have the perfect excuse to finally have a (semi) permanent layout. Without too much space to play with I've decided to make a portable 6'x4' layout using 0-27 track. I put this plan together so he can follow along and help me put the track together. Planning on using 3 sections of framed out 2'x4' sections of 3/4" Plywood that can be bolted together and placed on the floor. Using 0-27 - 42" diameter for the outside loop.

I used CAD to draw out the track sections, with the outside dashed line representing the distance for 3.5" center to center rail spacing. I don't plan on running anything big, so it should work. I'll post updates as we progress.

Note:  My son had the idea for the RR name..

So it was too hot to go outside so we stayed in and started the layout this weekend.

First I put together 2’x4’ modules framed out on 2x4s, I put spaces for legs, but for now it’ll just be on the basement floor.

Quickly painted the plywood with some textured spraypaint.

And then added in some buildings, a road and a circle of 16” Superstreets for his Hand car.

Semi-finished product

Quick and and easy to put together, and can easily get pulled apart and put away when the wife gets tired of it!
