There seems to be two camps of which of these two is best at quieting Fastrack? Has anyone done objective, measureable, reliable testing between these two materials to determine whether or not one of them is meassurely superior to the other in sound deadening? Since one is anywhere from 60 to 75 percent cheaper than the other I'm wondering how they compare in a one to one direct matchup under the same or very similar ciurcumstances. Is one noticeably better than the other? Which have you encountered to be the champ?

I have used them both and like the quiet brace better. It is lighter, easier to cut and holds a #4 screw firmly. Not to mention it is about 1/3 the price. I put mine down over OSB board. I fastened K-line snap track with black, short #4 screws that did no reach the OSB under it. As for sound quality I do not think it is much different but this is not scientific testing.

There is also Celotex Soundstop.
Since it is designed to absorb sound, it beats homosote easily in this function.
It is also less expensive than homosote.
BUT, it is not as strong as homosote. . Pick a sheet up by the corner and all you get is the corner.
I have both and prefer the Soundstop.
How much sound do you want to eliminate? Trains do make noise when they go by.
Hello: On my layout I used the pink broad 250 series 2 inches and very sound proof. In my view better then homosote. Very easy to work with. Can stand and kneel on this broad. Have funguy. Mike
