Hi,
I have an engine that will need replacement windows (cracked), and I’m looking at a beat up used engine that will need a replacement windshield. Is there a diy window replacement for engines? As delicate as these models are and the price of replacement shells im curious if anyone has had any luck at creating replacement windows (they don’t have to be perfect). Thanks as always!

Is is a press fit where the plastic window fits inside a frame or is it just a clear piece of plastic on the inside of the shell?
I have used clear plastic sheets used for printing. Kind of like the plastic used on windows in MTH buildings. I just trim to size and glue in place with a canopy glue that will dry clear with no residue.

Thanks for your input Ron. It is a Lionel conventional rs-3 and it is a thicker plastic. Thanks again
I do windows like Ron does, I just cut plastic sheets to size and glue them in with Tester's Clear Parts Cement. Most of my plastic is salvaged from product packaging.

You can buy the PET plastic sheets in any thickness, I have some fairly thick ones and some much thinner ones. I have both 6mil & 30mil sheets.
