I want to add passengers to this set so how are the cars opened to do this? Any pitfalls to avoid that could damage the cars lighting?

@ogaugeguy : I asked this same question some time ago. After I examined the cars, I decided not to try to open them because of the delicate details on the bottom. Maybe we will get an answer or perhaps a YouTube video showing the process.
LOL, I purchased Lionel sitting people for the NH&I cars and wound up using them elsewhere. I'd love to add some passengers to my cars!
I have the New Hope & Ivyland set and adding passengers is easy, and I am all thumbs. Just remove the four corner screws. You don’t have to remove the steps but I did because it gives you better access to the corner screws. The tops of the cars then come off easily just glue in the passengers.

Here is a link to the prior NH&I post, there is a diagram that Dave Olsen sent me showing the locations of the screws that need to be removed. Believe me if I can do it without any trouble it’s an easy job. You may have to cut off some passenger legs to get them in the seats but they don’t feel any pain.
