GREGG: You replied to this question very nicely over on the 2 rail forum, for which I thank you.

I took all the components out then I got confused.  The diagram on the box shows a Controller, then Terminal Block, then TIU,then the power supply which in my case is a Z 1,000. I thought, coming from HO where I blocked, that using the DCS System would be block free. But I was told for a layout 50'x20' I will need to add blocks-why? I thought each diesel would now be controlled by the handheld by addressing each diesel's cab number.

Right now,all I have is 5 tracks connected on a 46ft shelf, which if I live long enough,I will build into a connected oval of 50ft on the sides& 25ft on the ends.

My DCS has the TIU&DCS side by side in 1 unit. So for now,do I connect the track wires to the fixed or variable IN then connect the OUT wires to the +/- on  the Z 1,000?

In HO,I set up my blocks, then ran 2 wires to each block connection on a block panel, then when all blocks were set up,I ran 2 wires to the -/+ sections of my Transformer.

In my mind,I think all the components are the same as in HO except that there's more components. In HO,the transformer was the power supply & control in 1 unit, where here the DCS/TIU control the operation of the train & the Z 1,000 is the "juice" for the operation.

I'm all new to this, never ran an MTH diesel except on straight DC.

Thanks for all your help am sure I'll need a lot of it. I'm 2 rail instead of 3 rail.

Thank you for all your help in advance.
