I am trying to connect and operate the lionel 456 coal ramp to An sc-2. There are 3 connections on the bottom. There are 3 functions: uncouple from the train, unload the coal, and uncouple from the ramp. I can't find a manual on the ramp. Any ideas?

It would seem to me that each of the three functions would have to have its own accessory number and each being connected to the side of the SC2 terminals being used that are momentary contact.
That is correct. There are three separate functions; uncouple, unload, and release. Each requires momentary 12-14V. The whole ramp structure is common and needs a good connection to the outside rail.
Here is a link to your Coal Ramp manual. It also shows and discusses connection to the SC-2.

Just in case you need it, here is the SC-2 manual also. Make sure you wire the unload and uncouple contacts for "momentary" operation to prevent potential damage to their coils.

thanks, guys. I have looked at the manuals and the SC-2 and you are correct in that I will use 3 of the momentary functions on the SC-2 for the 3 different functions on the coal ramp.
