A long time ago, back when engines where 6-18xxx, I could find a diagram, or a diagram close enough, to the engine on hand, to identify parts, and order said parts from the Lionel website.
About three weeks ago I was able to get the ground light housing and some traction tires from the Lionel parts website (www.lionelsupport.com).
Now I have a Legacy engine, Lionel 6-28313 Canadian National SD70M-2, that could use a grain of wheat light bulb, lamp, light, whatever you call it, behind the number board - it is not an LED. I found an electrical schematic of a similar engine, Lionel calls it "FRONT NUMBER BOARD LIGHTS", and the circuitry certainly looked like what I have on hand.
After some futzing around, I figured out I need to change the Search By to Replacement Part, and the Text Search from LIGHT to LAMP, but I still can't narrow it down as to which one. I don't want to just head off to eBay or Ali Express, because I don't want to melt the neighboring plastic - someone had to put some engineering time into this.
Is there another resource, like diagrams or Bills-of-Material, that I am missing? Just buy any that look like its right and match the cold resistance to the one that still works?
