No power is not standard. Some engines have open frame AC motors, some DC can motors. Some older engines may have 2 motors vs 1. Lots of variables. Some engines have smoke units which pull more current.
The newer DC Can motors will draw less current than their AC PullMor type counterparts.
I have locomotives that draw from around 1/2 an amp to the Vision Line Big Boy, I've seen that hit a bit more than four amps with everything running and pulling 20 PFE reefers.
