Since I was a younger kid, I've always wanted to build a large, permanent O-Scale layout. I've seen pretty impressive layouts on Youtube (Eric Siegel, JDStucks, RBP, Chris's Trains and Things, Sid's Trains, etc.) and from watching TM Books and Video's I Love Toy Trains series. Folks on this forum have awesome layouts, too. I do have a shelf layout around my room, but I never had the space for a large layout like those folks mentioned above.

That is about to change, however. I'm really excited! Pretty soon, I will be installing a large detached shed in my backyard. The room will measure between 12 x 24 feet and 16 x 24 feet (which is pretty big). Once the room is finished (sometime in the next couple of months or so), I will begin designing my layout.

Here's a few facts about my layout that I will be building:

-It's called the Sunrise Mountain and Western Railroad (because I live on the east side of Las Vegas, Nevada at the foot of a real mountain called Sunrise Mountain, and I love western railroads: ATSF, BNSF, UP, SP, WP, BN, D&RGW, etc.)

-I will be modeling the modern era with trains from the early 1990s to the present day (when I grew up).

-The layout will be a freelanced version of railroads running between southern California, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah.

-Track will be Fastrack because that's what I use on my current layout.

-I plan to run trains with both Lionel Legacy (which I already own), Lionel's new Base-3/Cab-3 App, and MTH DCS with their new WTIU.

-I plan to have Lionel's LCS on my layout to control accessories.
