K-Line Alco Engines light up but don't move or make a sound

If you are running tmcc then the engine is waiting for a command. If you bought this used you most likely are not using the correct ID number. Set the switch in the program mode and assign a new number.

Thanks for the replies Rod and Nick but this is just a conventional engine.  

So in the past with other conventional engines, I  just choose Track(TR) 1 and move the throttle to make it move.

But these light up and that is it.

That switch is to lock it in the last  position, not just forward.

If you are using a CAB-1 & PM-1, you need to be sure the stall voltage is set to zero, or that diesel won't change direction, but with the reversing switch "on", it should default to forward in about 20 seconds.

Depending on the year, there may be two switches on the bottom of the diesel, one for the reverse, & one for series/parallel. Check to be sure you are moving the reverse switch.

Any chance these are TMCC engines? (command)  

Unplug the command base if you have one and try it  a couple  more times.

Do you have a box or cab number?

That switch is to lock it in the last  position, not just forward.

These are K-Line 2129 and 2131 Erie Alco's.  I only see the one switch on the bottom.

It must be the reversing unit.  I have not gotten into replacing one but it seems it's not too difficult.  Not much to these locos.
