Lowering the two ends was very straighforward with just a screwdriver.  I disassembled the end, removed the MTH trucks, and put in the weaver diecast truck/coupler using a #4 sheet metal screw/nut and a few washers for a spacer.

The middle parts are a lot harder.  I used a dremel cutoff wheel (bench grinder would work too) to remove some of the metal material that was holding the mth trucks.  Then I had to drill a hole up into the end to accept the sheet metal screw coming up through the replacement metal truck.

Not for the faint of heart, and you won't be able to convert back later.

Then I repainted everything and put my own decals.

I can send you a pic later if any of that was not clear.

I know, but finding one now is difficult. They had a similar thing for their 40-foot well car pairs (wish someone would re-release those). I have three pairs and I was going to surgically alter one to function as a middle car of a five-unit string.
