I have just finished putting in some lighting. I need a little bit more, but it is close now. Here are two photos with the added lighting. In the next post I will show you the new table I have put up. I would like some help in figuring out the track arrangement.

Here is the new table. You enter the table from the left from the layout. I starts with a ross 4 way yard switch.
The table is 16' 20" long and 4 feet wide. There are some unusable areas in the back where brick pillars and metal brace the ceiling.
I want two or three of the long tracks to be available as a holding track for passenger trains. I also want to be able to store 4 engine in the engine house area with 2 tracks inside and one track on either side outside the engine house.
I also want some switching opportunities in the back and in the front. This is where your ideas come in. I am having some trouble coming up with a plan that will allow me to switch cars. I really want someone to be able to entertain themselves on this table for a while switching and unloading some cars (I have some of the K-line cars that kick out boxes be remote). I have cranes that could unload carts, etc.
I picture some smaller industries in the front like Korber size models and some larger factories in the back. Maybe icing platform for reefers. Anything is fair game. Thanks to any who participate and help me get this going. On the right side maybe a big Union Station like building over the tracks.

Hehe, I think most of us are intimidated! Could you put up a SCARM file with the dimensions and what not that we could play with?
A Ross 4-way Yard Switch... man it must be nice!!! When I bought our new house I got a large finished basement specifically for my train empire, when we moved in guess who commandeered the large part and guess who was banished to the back room??
Excellent lighting & train room, no yellow tint in the photos. Look forward to seeing the new table.

Dom, David probably doesn't use SCARM, his layout looks pretty free form, much like my own.
What we do need is just a rough sketch with the obstructions and the dimensions. Personally, I think most of that space in the back will be lost for track, and will have to be used for structures. That isn't such a bad thing though, you want to keep switching up front where you can reach it.

Now that you mention it, that back area does lend itself to filling in with flats and other facades for businesses or row houses, etc. The brick beams and what not can be dressed up to look like a building, and the empty spaces mean you can set some buildings back to create depth.
I am happy to take any measurements anyone would like to help with a rendering. I don't have any software. I have tried before but never could figure any of them out.

You and I are cut from the same cloth on this software thing. They make pretty pictures, but it takes twice the work. Time better spent on construction!
A quick sketch with dimensions and take a pic would be perfect. I can take that and scribble on it with paint.
