My LioneChief Plus Mikado smokes but it lost the "puffs" of smoke. Does anyone know if the puffing in these engines is done mechanically or is the fan pulsed on and off to create that effect? Thanks.

The 'features' listing of the LionChief Plus locos list them as having "synchronized fan driven smoke".

You did add more drops of smoke fluid right?
I mention this because a newbie did not read the instructions ! He ran the smoke unit with out adding more smoke fluid ! hence the smoke unit was destroyed !
He had the nerve to blame the dealer ! Dumb choice ! I was there when he bought the train & when he brought it back saying the smoke unit did not work! The dealer told him to add 8 to 10 drops at unpacking the train ! or turn off the smoke unit !
Add 5 drops to smoke unit as the smoke volume decreased if running the smoke unit !
The dealer won ! that battle because I was there to back up the dealer ! The guy had to send in engine to lionel ! I don't if he did !
