I am having trouble with this ORIGINAL fork lift accessory. The string keeps coming off the pulley. Sometimes right away; other times after about a minute. The bracket for the vibro motor and gears has ears that slip into the base. When they are slipped in, the asssembly does not lie flat until you apply some pressure and screw it down. Not sure if that would have anything to do with the problem. Nothing has been tampered with since the accessory was new in 1956 or 1957. Everything seems quite free, and when it did run I tested it with or without the fork lift. The spring is approx 3/4" extended, but closer to 7/8 or so. When the repair manual states approx. 3/4" long, what are they measuring? Spring itself, or the entire length. Hope there are some answers out there. Thanks for your help.

Yes, I can take a picture of the spring regarding the tension. But I may not be able to post it, on here, as lately I can't get it to work. My e-mail is GNX582@CenturyTel.net if you want to strike up this conversation elsewhere.
