Lionel Heavyweight Passenger Car LED Conversion

I have not done these exact cars but had what looks like a similar situation. I used Double sided tape and cut segments of the standard led reels and spliced them together. worked fine and simple to do.

For cars that have those support posts that aren't used in the middle of the run, I just whack them off.  As stated, if you're squeamish about whacking the posts, just wire around them.

I use the light strip tape, but I also add a spot of glue in a few places to insure that the light strip glue doesn't give way after a period of time, that happens at times.

Thank you for the responses! I will keep the posts in since I don't trust myself to do that. Are there any LED reels or strips in particular that I should look for? I am new to using LED reels so I am not too familiar with them. Thanks in advance!

I buy them from AliExpress.us  I can't post the links here due to forum rules.  They're item# 2251832821703568.  These are 5 meter reels with 60 LED's per meter, that's the ones I use all the time.  If you buy five reels (more than $10), the shipping is free.  I just got ten reels of these last week.

Unless  you ordered 5 rolls, the ad says you pay shipping.

I added two to my cart and then went to the cart to checkout...

I just checked the ad after seeing John's post and it NOW says free shipping with a $10+ purchase.

But when I placed my order, it was a blanket Free shipping and so says my receipt for the order:

The invoice showed $4.72 plus $.28 tax for total of $5.

I guess this is an example of dynamic pricing.

But the essential element in this conversion is the addition of a Hennings

20110 LED LIGHTING REGULATOR

The strip led's operate on DC and this not only gives you DC but at a constant voltage

I'm going to throw a hissy fit!   I'm being discriminated against!   My order was for ten reels anyway, so I got free shipping.
