I am searching for information and photos about the New York & Long Island Traction Company. I already have Vincent Siegfried's book, but I am hoping there is a picture of one of the company's trolley cars on Jericho Turnpike.
The New York & Long Island Traction Company had a branch that ran along Jamaica Avenue through Queens Village and Bellrose, and into Nassau County on Jericho Turnpike. This branch line terminated in Mineola where it connected to the main trolley line the ran along Hempstead Turnpike.
As the trolley line crossed the county border at the intersection of the Little Neck Parkway and Tulip Avenue (1st picture), it ran under the Long Island Rail Road's Creedmore Branch Trestle and into Floral Park. The trolley line ran in the dirt on the north side of the turnpike. Although the line was taken up in 1925, in the 2nd picture of the trestle Circa 1929, the trolley wire support can be seen on the trestle.
The 3rd picture below is BRT Car 1792 which is the only surviving trolley that ran on the New York & Long Island Traction Company's lines. Car 1992 was borrowed from the BRT (Brooklyn Rapid Transit), and it likely ran along the Jamaica Avenue - Jericho Turnpike branch through Queens Village, Bellrose, Floral Park, New Hyde Park and into Mineola.
Below is a New York & Long Island Traction Car 9. The lines cars were originally painted the color of a green wine bottle. Eventually the cars were painted orange.
