Here is a quick test shot of a photographic diorama I'm building. It features a Crystal River water tower (about 90% complete). The track is hand-laid and ballasted with sifted sand and fine grout in three colors. The lumber loads are coffee stirrers glued to wooden forms and are removable. The coal load is glued to a piece of shaped, pink foam and is also removable. The cars are lightly weathered with oil washes using a technique I read on a Model Railroad Hobbyist forum or blog.

The diorama is not finished. I have to add vegetation. All of these projects have been an experiment for me. I'm primarily an "armchair" modeler and have been encouraged by my minor successes. I'm probably closer to actually building a layout than I've been in 20 years and these projects are keeping me interested in pursuing this dream. I'll post more photos later.
