Hi All,

I want to lube the gearbox on the above engine.  Is it as simple as removing the gearbox cover and cleaning out the old and putting in the new lube?

I ask this because I lubed the Sunset PRR H-6, 2-8-0, and when I removed the gear box cover, the motor fell into the boiler (it was upside-down) and it was an awful job getting things right again.

Thanks.

Ed

One would think so. I've many of them on my Sunset/3rd Rail steam locomotive models.

Although I did mine "up-side-down" in the cradle, only took one screw all the way out, and then loosened the second screw SLIGHTLY, in order to access the hear. All I did was add a VERY small amount of Lucas "Red-N-Tacky" synthetic grease.

Thanks.
