For the McCoy collectors:

This McCoy 256-S TPC Circus stock car with the clown head herald:

McCoy clown stock car

My question is, from the factory did this car have the clown and TPC Circus herald placards on both sides of the car, or only one?  I have come across several now with the placards on only one side, but don't know if that's original or if someone borrowed the ones off the other side to use on another car?

If you have one of these, could you look and see if it has placards on both sides?

Thanks!

I also bought some on E-bay with the placards only on one side . Got both the red and the white cars. Bought extras and added the placards to the sides that had none. Bought a few other items from the same seller. Here's my take, these were shop samples or someone was playing with making custom pieces. Some of that opinion is based on how the trucks and couplers were attached. Not from the factory. Also on the circus cars, the doors on one side were slotted, plain on the other. Perfect for future custom cars

Pat, that's the uncertainty I'm trying to clear up.

Steve, sounds like a fun mishmash.  However, mine are stock McCoy in terms of couplers, trucks, rivets, doors, and finish.  Just the question of the placards on only one side.

Does anyone have a clown-head car that came with placards on both sides?  So far, we are confirming that it might be possible that these came with placards on only one side, but I'd like to see contrary evidence if anyone has it.  Parker? Other McCoy collectors?
