I was at the local Menards earlier this week and picked up some Menards stuff to fool around with. 3 of the
low end flatcars, 2 of the Menards service vans, and 2 of the short box trucks. The 2 trucks received Northern
Pacific and Spokane Portland & Seattle decals.

They turned out OK. the SP&S truck was all yellow so a little black spray on the box really improved it.
The yellow one is the one I will convert to a UPS vehicle. It's an ugly looking yellow.
I have not encountered any problems with the flat cars. For 5 bucks, the tooling is crisp as are the graphics. What's not to like (given that I am a fan of the "toy" aspect of toy trains, of course).

I had no issue with the low end flatcars. They were $5 so I was not expecting much more than what $5 will purchase now a days. Like you stated they are more in line with toy trains.
The trucks will be a plus to any layout. On the road or loading up at a dock
