Does MTH sell replacement modern diesel sunshades? They seem to disappear when they fall off. If not, has anyone tried making them with a 3-D printer?

Generally speaking, MTH does not have individual body parts, only complete shells, when available. Precision scale is going to be your best bet.
Thanks Chuck. I ordered a set and hope I could make them work. Attaching the brass to plastic may be a challenge though. What glue would you recommend? If this doesn't work I may pop a set off of another engine and find someone local with a 3-D printer to see if they can make them. If they can I'll order a dozen sets for my parts bin.
Dave, for future reference, Atlas stocks a good amount of diesel replacement parts. Not sure what type of MTH engine you have, but you may be able to find a "similar" model previously offered by Atlas that also had sun shades. I've purchased Atlas parts numerous times when I've needed to replace lost or broken parts on MTH, Lionel and K-Line engines. Also when I've done added detail work to some engines.
The Atlas website has good exploded parts diagrams (with part #'s) for many/most of its diesels. This makes it really easy to figure out which parts are separately applied...and if so, what part # you need. In fact, I just placed an order yesterday!
Thanks Joe, great idea. It's a premier SD70-ace. I'll head over to their website right now and see what they have.
These window shades were from another atlas model added to the SW9.
Looks great Mike. Did you repaint those switchers, cause the shades sure match well? Joe, I found some listed for Atlas SD40's, .75 cents each $9.95 shipping, and placed an order. I ordered 10 so that I have extra which brought the cost to $1.71 each total. If I only ordered 2 the cost would have been $5.72 each. Shipping is a killer these days especially on an item that you know can be shipped folded in a piece of paper and shipped with a stamp. So if you guys need any, shoot me an email.
