I just purchased a brand new PS2 Erie Triplex. It is the version with the Russian blue boiler. Can you please tell me what this boiler was and why was it the blue gray color?
It is supposed to represent Russian Iron, which has a blue/gray color in sunlight. It can withstand high temperatures without turning black. It was used as a decorative novelty in early 20th century steam locos. It was also used in stovepipes and other heat related items in that era.
