Hi folks

I have been trying to plan out a dogbone layout with MTH realtrax.  I would like to have a straight section leading to a group of left hand curves that goes 180degrees plus 45 degrees then reverse to a right hand 45 degree curve to head the track back next to the incoming straight track (pdf of plan attached).  I have been using Anyrail software to try and close the loop.  It looks to me that I cannot do this with the selection of short straight adapters that are available.  If you do the geometry the linear projection of the O-31 curve or O-42 curve is not a multiple of 1/2" so it seems I cannot make the dogbone close.  Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks

Robbin,

Any reason you can't just cut a piece of Realtrax to fit?  Off the subject; you do realize that MTH is going out of business soon and buying more Realtrax for future expansion will soon be near impossible?  Why not start with another brand that is USA made and will probably be around longer like Gargraves or Ross?

Hi thanks, yes I could do that I do have transitions to tubular but was hoping to not have to transition back and forth.

Yes very aware that MTH is not continuing.  Sad in that I was going to the store starting back in 1991 when we lived a few blocks away in Columbia MD.  I have not been too involved with O gauge but have a large collection (not compared to some I know) of lionel from 1956 and from when I was a kid and wanted to run it on MTH realtrax to make life simple.  I have started to purchase Ross switches and flex track for a more permanent layout that will be more involved but wanted to try and do something easy to run trains for Christmas along a long wall in the basement.  Hence dogbone with Realtrax.
