I have been working on a standard gauge layout and have 3 MTH #444 roundhouse sections at the end of the train yard. The tracks leading into each section of the roundhouse are held in alignment with clips on the floor of the roundhouse section, at the front of each section.  Then the track just kind of sticks into the roundhouse section and floats around in there?  The instructions with the MTH sections mention the clips at the front, but nothing else.  But toward the back of each section, the floor is punched with some holes and bent-up tabs or some configuration, pretty much where the track lies.  Is there some clip or something, or some other way to fasten down the short track at the back, inside of each roundhouse section, or do you just let it flop around back there? This one has me puzzled.

thanks.

Looks like the track tie could clip there. One set is in line with the track and the other is next to the track. My track falls a little short of the clips and I added 25 bumpers. If I were to put Engines in my Roundhouses I would put door insulation under the ties to prevent scratching. I guess I mean weatherstripping.

That's what i thought, but they don't line up at all, too far apart.  That's what made me think maybe there was a clip i was missing.

One 14" track section plus one half section (7") seems to be about right from the turntable to pretty close to the back wall of the section.  I was thinking about the track bumpers, but they take up a lot of room. But they would hold the track down.

I like the idea about the peel-and-stick weatherstripping foam.  I might do that. thanks.

I will have to look at mine.  It has been nine years since I set it up an bolted it to a board for the TCA convention in California, so I can't quite remember.

I think I had to cut track sections to the right length, also.

My roundhouse is a T-Reproductions version, so that is another variable.

If you wouldn't mind looking, I'd appreciate your take on this.  They must have been thinking of something when they punched those tabs up in the floor, but they sure don't match anything, and none of us can figure it out.  It's no big deal really, it's not that noticeable and doesn't affect functionality...  just a little loose end, and a fun puzzler.  The floor tabs on the MTH version anyway definitely do not match track or tie.

I looked in my Roundhouse.

There is a bracket that stick up in the back where the track ends.

At the bottom of the bracket, there are two, small tabs.

These tabs slide over the tie at the bottom where it is rolled up.

I don't know if these tabs are present in the MTH version of the roundhouse.  I would assume they are, as the MTH accessories I have are closer to the originals (and better finished) than the T-Repro versions.

RAK, thank you for looking.  I have the tabs, which are punched out of the floor of the roundhouse and bent up.  But they are too far apart for the ties.  Sounds like I am missing a "bracket".   I'd post photos, but it's pretty hard to get a photo in there at the back of the roundhouse section!  Thanks for your help!
