Well, I went through the big D and don't mean Dallas, she got the explorer and I sold the palace, in Feb, so the layout is cinders and all my O gauge stuff is in boxes.  I kind of had to let things cool down for a bit, but being active on this forum has inspired me to get some trains running, like right now.  So I broke out my dad's Lionel standard gauge set from the 30's I believe, and am starting to put it together so I can hear some wheels clackin' on some rails.  Here are some pics of the set and my track so far.  I've still got six curves, which make half loop, and ten straights, so this could be pretty cool.  I plan on cleaning the track really well, putting feeders in the track every four foot max, and running it with a Cab1, powermaster and 130 brick.  The set, the engine and cars, is really cool.  Sorry the pictures are not the best.  Some of you guys have got a man cave, well, this is my version of the bat cave, not to mention an igloo, note the space heater.  But it won't affect the performance of that vintage Lionel train, I'm sure.  But, I guess we'll see about that soon enough.  Better pics of the set tomorrow when the sun comes up.  Might as well get a start on it now.

Looks like a great start to a tinplate addiction. That looks like a nice prewar set. Your dad took good care of his train.

Make sure you oil the bushings and other points. I use synthetic motor oil on my tinplate trains. It holds up really well. The cool air might make it run a little slow at first, but once it starts to warm, it will get going. So make sure you keep your hand on the throttle!

Post some video once you get it going. You should post your tinplate in the Tinplate Forum:  https://ogrforum.com/forum/tinplate-trains

Will do.  I last ran her in 2012 and she is a honey.  I just noticed one of the big globe bulbs on one side is broken and unscrewed it.  I also know that one of the lights is dark and a string inside needs to be reattached.  This will get done.  She will be strutting her stuff real soon.  Got to work tomorrow for a while.  Need to clean some track, realign some pins, we'll see how it goes.  As always, Cheers!
