I want to install DCS on my layout. I will be using a Lionel brick for power. The problem I have is how to determine the positive and negative once I cut off the plug. Not the outlet plug, the small plug that would go into a Lionel controller or ZW. Any help would be great. Also, even though I'm using a newer power supply, do you think it's a good idea to install an inline fuse? I picked up what I need for the inline fuse a Radio Shack today.

Don't cut off the plug, get the Lionel TMCC direct lockon and then run from that to the TIU. If you do decide to cut off the plug, the hot side will have the white labeling on the cord itself, at least that has been the experience with my 6 bricks. Be sure to check the polarity of the brick, some of them were reversed from the factory. The numbers are somewhere on the Lionel website, of the bricks that had this problem.
