Hi everyone,

I've spent numerous hours trying to come up with a track plan for my new layout and nothing really floats my proverbial boat.  To be honest, envisioning a final result from a blank piece of paper or floor space is not really part of my skill-set.  If anyone is so inclined to provide ideas and/or a track plan, it would be much appreciated.

Particulars:  I have RR track software for anyone who also uses it to plan.

  • Atlas track and switches (that's what my old layout had)
  • I have room for a rectangular layout 20' long by 6' wide with a 10' long by 4' wide extension on the lower left to form an inverted L
  • Would like 3 lines which are all connected to each other
  • Use 2 levels
  • O36 min curve though I would like one line to be O54 in it's entirety
  • Would like to include a city scene with station
  • Would like to include logging area (have log loader, etc)
  • Would like to include an oil area (have oil field and pump)
  • Would like a small yard to switch industries
  • Would like a body of water

I'm open to any and all ideas.

Thank-you in advance,

Greg

I'd like to offer my services.   I'm currently planning a 17 x 10 double mainline Atlas layout for myself.

Please take a look at the layouts I've designed for other forum members.

A few questions for you.

1. What is your interest in layouts? Leaning towards scale, super realistic? Or more of a loop runner?

2. What equipment do you have, and plan to have?

3. What's driving your track diameter choice? Existing stuff? Because you seem to have a pretty big space, especially if you go around the walls.

4. running DCS? if so, the need for independent loops or lines becomes less important.

Let me know

Tim
