Simple question from someone new to Legacy: When I shut the engine down, the number boards stay lit. Do these boards stay lit always when engine is on powered track?

Thanks, I will check that out. I've used DCS for many years, but find the Cab2 commands challenging. Lots to learn.
Many of the Legacy models have number boards lit directly from the track power. I have a number of steamers and diesels that keep them lit. I also had to fix the illumination of the Lionel F40PH number boards and the associated Cabbage unit, so I know exactly how they're powered.
It's easy to see if they're powered that way, if they come on immediately with track power, they're directly powered.
Thanks John. That explanation makes the most sense. I am used to as Barry would say "Engines will go dark and silent" when shutdown. Glad that its not a defect. Thanks again, speperak
Well, I don't know that it's not a defect, but it's a design defect! IMO it was just laziness that made them use track power for the number boards, I also would like them to be truly dark until spoken to.
OTOH, the lighted number boards do alert me to the fact that I've left the power on one of my turntable whisker tracks.
I vaguely remember my 2010 Challenger leaving its number boards lit after shutdown.
I think a lot of later Legacy stuff lit the number boards directly from the track power.
