I had Lionel O gauge and HO trains as a youth. Rekindled interest 20 yrs ago then sold out after a few years. Started planning this current layout 2 years ago. Building has been ready to begin bench work for 6 mos. Had trouble coming up with track plan and brand of track. Got past all that and started bench work last week. Big fun! Lots of help from fellow OGR and TCA chapter members. OGR member Obsidian put up with all my indecision and changes over a year coming up with track plan. He is well versed in RR track software and layout design plus a very nice guy. Recommend him to anyone that needs help with computer generated track planning.
Congrats on getting things underway! That's a heck of a space for the layout!

Bobby Cox, are those metal leg support brackets? If so where are they available? That appears to be a very ingenious system.
Thanks, Steve
Nice plan Bobby.
I didn't see any supports at the ends of that section of the layout. Are the ends connected to what looks like a ledger board on the wall and will that be enough support ?
Looks like a pretty wide radius at the ends of each loop. Will you have any reach issues there ?
Hey Bobby! Glad to see you've starting building your layout. Thanks for the opportunity to help design your layout. Looking forward to 'tracking' (pun intended) your progress!
Bobby, Congratulations!!! That is a great building and a great track plan Obsidian and you worked out! I'm interested in learning about the leg supports as well! Your daughter or granddaughter looks like Vana White showing the wonderful space!!
Thanks to all those who replied to my post about the layout I am building. Several have inquired about the leg supports. As I said earlier the guy that is helping me use to work in a cabinet shop. He wants everything to be built like a high end cabinet. The legs are built out of 2x4s that have be run through a planner to true them up. Next he cuts notches in them so they fit together like Lincoln Logs. Makes for a very strong support. Here are some pics that hopefully will shed some light on how they are made and how they fit together.
He builds these leg supports at his shop at home then brings them over to my place and we attach them to the wall top and bottom on the back leg. On the front leg there is a peg in the bottom of the leg that goes in a hole we drilled in the concrete floor. Pegs are cut from a piece of All Thread and are 2” long. We used Liquid Nails in the hole in the concrete to hold the pin in.
This makes for a very sturdy base for the train table. Expensive to do it this way but very attractive and strong.
