I'm building a new layout using realtrax 042 and 031 single level u shape using 3 4x8 plywood and filling in the gaps as needed. Multi 042 switches and want to have 2 main lines, small lake, small yard, some sidings and some room for mth building all modern era trains cars etc. Please post some ideas

I think he's doing three 4x8 sheets in a U-shape. Still, 48" is smaller than you think: will the 42" curves leave any room or do they go right to the edge?

That's a good space. Have you considered an "around-the-walls" style with a lift bridge?
I did think about it. Just not really what I want to do. I don't have any track planing software other than the free one that dosen't have mth track. I Have bought $2000 in track just for a rough start on the floor. When I get my main lines and sides started. I'll know how much wood to buy. I'm on my own here.
