no PFA in PS2 engine? fixed with feature reset

I got a used AFT GS4 in G scale. http://mthtrains.com/70-3006-1

She runs pretty good but draws a lot more than she should with the smoke on (2 to 2.5 amps). Others draw about 1.5 with smoke? I have been working on that.

I have been looking her over and testing everything. I noticed that the remote says PFA on when I push the button. There's no bell or any change in sounds. If I toggle the direction button she will stop. She does not play any extra sounds. She just sits there idling. At the end of toggling the direction, she returns to normal operation.

So she just doesn't have any PFA sounds? I'm thinking a reload of a sound set but I'm wondering if this is common?

Check to make sure the accent volume is turned all the way up.

You may have to do a sound file reload. I would also check the Accent volume like TL9943.

If all else fails might check Barry's books and that could help.

Factory reset with good battery, and recheck. No go, reload sound file. G

It's normal draw with the smoke off. The smoke unit tests fine. I'm guessing it's in the wiring or smoke volume pot.

I need to try a reset.

I should have noticed that several things weren't right. I had noticed that there wasn't any headlight or flashing mars light on her. I had fixed that with the remote. She had PFA when I got her. Now I remember that because I remembered those specific AFT announcements. So a feature reset turned everything back to normal. I'm not sure why it happened as the grandkids had the remotes. There has been several things happening that keep me running constantly.
