But I don't have any plans.
The detail you put in your buildings makes them look very realistic.
Can't help you with that, Clutch. That photo looks like it's taken of the backside. ?
Fred, you should have been a pioneer or settler. It's a beauty!

That is a fairly modern looking Butt and Pass style construction with square milled timbers. What age log cabin are you wanting? A Saddle Notched with round logs would definitely look older and more rustic. Modeling the "Chinking" (basically mortar between the logs, for weather sealing) would be a bit tedious, but would really add to it's appearence.

Vulcan's cabin uses what they call dovetail construction. You can google info on how to cut a dovetail notch in the logs to do your own.
The dovetail style uses a almost square log with a slight bevel on top instead of a round one.
coming from the state next door to Vulcan you see a lot of them around here.
As for chinking you can use latex premixed grout in a natural sand color. You can get it at lowes in a small tub so you won't have to buy a gallon.
you can use a weathering stain just like a full size cabin .then apply the grout .wipe it with a damp sponge to remove it from the face of the wood leaving it behind in the cracks.

Well I found a laser cut kit by Creative Designs. It's not O scale but the S scale version looks good enough for now. I still intend to build an O scale version from scratch. I am working on some drawings.

I have built a much more primitive log cabin that I placed up in my mountains. It was essentially made from sticks from the front yard. From the distance it is seen, it serves the purpose.

It certainly does serve the purpose Rick. It looks like a Tennessee mountain home. I think I will use 1/4" basswood.

The "logs" I used for my cabin are called "Woodsies". They are found in the craft department at Walmart for around $2. There is enough to make several log cabins. They are not square, L: 5 3/4, W: 1/4, and 3/32 thick. Logs are not square or round, at least around here, think of them as large planks.
Your cabin is impressive Vulcan and the "Woodsies" from Walmart sounds very interesting. However I was looking for something more Ben Cartwright and less Jeremiah Johnson.
My take on a log cabin....
