We tore down our little layout last summer and finally built a new one before Christmas. Simple loop with two sidings using O-27. We need to change the glitter, its kind of grey and not sparkling enough. My wife has the Dept 56 bldgs that make up the town. My wife has yet to notice that we made a tunnel through the bookcase. Its better to ask for forgiveness then for permission.

Looks very good to me. A little glitter is OK but not required. The grey is more like the real dirty shade snow gets along the roads.
The hole... Well, price to pay. Besides, just park a decent size book on each side once the layout is gone and no one will notice.
