Hi Everyone:  I recently wrote an article on this forum about the "new" PCC Streetcar Line located in El Paso, Texas that is obtaining brand new Air Electric PCC Streetcars (6 of them) to operate on there new revenue streetcar line.  All PCCs that operate in the USA have certain amenities such as air-conditioning, turn signals, gps annoucements in the cars for station stops, and wheel chair accessibility.  Some of the cars have bicycle racks.  San Francisco does not have air-conditioning because of there mild climate.

San Francisco is the only city in the whole wide world operating a very large fleet of President Conference Committee Streetcars (PCC).  The "new" PCC Streetcar was developed by a committee of CEOs of various streetcars companies back in the 30s to give life to aging fleets of old streetcars and their transit companies.  They came up with the PCC Streetcar which looks as good today as it did back in the late 30s.  Besides San Francisco, you can find PCC Streetcars currently operating in the following cities in the USA:  San Diego (2 of them), Boston (a small fleet operating on the Mattapan-Ashmont Line).  Philadelphia has a small fleet of PCC-2s working on the #15 Girard Streetcar Line, Kenosha, Wisconsin (a small fleet of PCCs, bought from Toronto, Canada, operating on a heritage type streetcar line). And of course! El Paso, Texas is currently in the process of receiving there newly rebuilt look alike Air Electric PCCs from Brookville Equipment Company in Brookville, Pennsylvania.  [Brookville is a fantastic company that builds and rebuilds streetcars, and other railroad engines].  The motto of Brookville Equipment Corporation is the following: "Whatever kind of streetcar you want, we can build it".  Thank God for Brookville.

So there you have it.  I love PCCs Streetcars -- hence this article.  Besides revenue operations of PCC Streetcars in the USA. you can find them operating in various Trolley Museums through out the USA and Canada.  And that is another article for this forum that would be called "PCC Streetcars that Operate in Various Museums in the United States and Canada".

Sincerely yours     railbear601
