Newbie question.

Since I am not handy whatsoever, I decided to go the ping pong table route to create a permanent display.  I intend to use fast track and O tubular track and either homasote or quietbrace to deaden the sound.

Can I apply the homasote/quietbrace directly to the ping pong table top directly using some kind of adhesive caulk/screws to fasten it or do I need to add an additional 1/2 inch plywood to the top of the ping pong table then add the homasote/quietbrace?

From other posts,  it is suggested not to fasten the screws into the wood since it tends to amplify sound.  If I secure the track with screws only to the homasote/quuetbrace, what size and kind of screw do I need?  I won't be adding any scenery, ballast or things like that since its beyond my expertise just a few post war accesories, but that's another question for another forum.

Thanks in advance.

George
