I've decided to go with a P.E. themed layout. This is a design I came up with. It has been done before in other layouts. Mine will be built with on 3 4x8 plywood sheets. It features 2 dogbone reverse loops, a yard for parking engines and cars and the mountain. Would like to hear some input on the design and some ideas on it as well.

A few thoughts.  If you were to remove a section 14/16 inches by four feet from the right inside edge of the left side wing and attach it to the left inside edge of the right side wing that would allow you to use 60" loop into a 48" loop into a 36" loop in the open area on the right side wing.  The top loop could then continue toward the right edge and curve back to the left but closer to lowest level track along the back edge.  This would allow the upper reversing loop to have the same orientation as the bottom reverse loop.  I think this would place the emphasis on the spiral and allow for additional scenic possibilities on the upper level.  Should still have room for the three yard tracks on the left wing.

Here is the design I used to make my 2013 Christmas Village. It gives you an extra circle around the mountain for "Climbing" while the top and bottom levels are no more than 6 inches height difference. The elongated loops use Wyes and allow for more space to build your mountain top North Pole. This is the layout that appears in this video:

Good luck.
