I have new PS2 NYC Switcher that is 7.4 volt. I replaced it with a new capacitor type battery BEFORE USE and it runs fine but the volume is terrible. Mid position I can't hear anything at all and all the way up volume renders just a little volume for everything. At this point I am running it on my Lionel cab 1 System conventional. My other PS2 engines run just fine and the volume is fine.

The only other issue I have with all my PS2 engines which I am just starting to run right now he's using them on cab 1 they running very slow? I am using a TPC 300 AND A POST-WAR ZW.

Will be getting amtc DCS system very soon.

Need your help as usual,

Much thanks as usual, Jerry

Jerry,

Please advise steps to procure a new one and generic disassembly and assembly of a mikado type tender.

MTH typically has replacement speakers in stock. These speakers  do not suffer from the same issues as does the one that you're replacing. Be sure to order the one that fits your specific engine.

To access the speaker, remove the tender's shell as per the instructions in the manual for changing the battery. Then, instead of removing the battery, remove the speaker. You'll have to desolder they two speaker leads and resolver them to the new speaker. The speaker has + and - polarity noted. Be sure to observe polarity when soldering the wires back to the new speaker.

The speaker has a gasket that you may be able to reuse. However, I suggest ordering a new gasket from MTH when you order the speaker.

When working around the magnet of the speaker, I've found it useful to have a non-magnetic screwdriver, tweezer and soldering iron tip available.
