Question about foam

I would pull the plastic coating. Otherwise any thing glued down won't stay.

Good to know about the plastic layer, I'll remove it from the foam before attaching the cork roadbed.

Does anyone have any supplier in Massachusetts for the 1" blue extruded foam?

All the Lowes & Home depot carry in my area are the 2" sheets(purple or green).

There is a difference in composition of foam between blue- best- to green or pink. The Dow blue is the best to use, it is firmer and stronger. Pull off the sheeting before use.

Hi Gregg. Without a doubt peel it off. Paint and adhesives like Liquid Nails for foam takes great to it. Just dont use any oil based stuff.

Thanks Jay - it's off now and the track/roadbed is due to arrive next week.  If all goes well, should have trains running by Christmas!!

I was thinking of also using foam in my new layout.  Which is preferred foam,  homasote or quitebrace to reduce noise.

PS.... Greg would love to see pics of your layout.... my wife is from KC and we go back quite often. This Christmas I plan on going down to the railyard over by the hospital in KC. It looks unreal to watch the trains that come in and out of there....thanks!
