I am hoping to do a layout with a top section that lifts. Please see the attached plan (from another publication) that utilizes a section like this.
I am using Gargraves track and my question would be, How do you connect/unconnect the track easily while using a lift-section on your top?

Maybe Im looking at this wrong.I don't understand the need for turnouts right before going into a tunnel so a train can travel two different tracks while in the tunnel.

I also considered using a lift section but built this gate instead.
Search the forum for "lift out bridge", in particular, check for Tom Tee's posts. He reference's the use of cabinetry pin locks for positive alignment every time. Also, some good pics of the construction.
Update: here's one
Some micro switches will be necessary to cut power to the adjoining tracks when the lift out is removed.
