I am in the process of laying track for my new layout.  The issue I am having is what I perceive to be related to the auto-derailing function!

Some Background information: For now I am using track power to power the switches but the goal is a separate/auxiliary power source. The layout consist of an inner and outer loop.  The outer loop 54" curve and the inner 42" curve. The overall layout looks like an "E". The Train Yard will be the middle portion of the "E". ( I attached a SCARM File)  I have used grounded track so my outer rails are connected through out the layout. I plan on operating the switches via the red/green switch controller that is included.

I am having several issues:

First : The derailing function/buzzing is noted when I apply power. It will not let me reset the switch in manual mode or if I manually operate the switch in one of the  directions the buzzing begins. This is independent of where the direction of the other switch is.  What do I need to isolate? How do I determine which leg is the problem?

Second: The operating lamps for the switch housings will not illuminate (bulbs/lamps have been checked) If I apply external power I can get one switch to illuminated but not the other. I can get the switches to operate independently with out being connected to the layout. What trouble shooting / temporarily connections  should I make to help me isolate the problem?

I hope I have given enough information...I am just stuck!

Hello…

First issue..sometimes when connecting turnouts by the diverging tracks, one turnout can cause the other turnout to “sense” a short to ground, which activates the auto alignment function…I’ve found that tweaking the connection can clear it-look at the rails see if they are touching-filing the rail back may solve the issue.
Or, if you have “space” in your design, MTH makes an isolation track-which has 3 jumper wires under it-you can remove them-thus isolating your turnouts from each other.
This is a serious issue with MTH turnouts-I had 2 fail on one of my yards…I kept smelling the ozone odor of frying electronics, but the lamps were lit, and I hadn’t pushed any rolling stock on that yard-yet my Z-4000 kept tripping at another mainline location..which sent me on a wild goose hunt.
Wasn’t until I needed to move some cars into the yard that I found the gremlins that were the actual issue-but, it gave me a reason to redo the yard-only cost me an O-54 and an O-42 turnout🤨

Here’s the new design-gave me a place to use that Quad turnout I acquired in a bulk deal…https://youtu.be/TXo2pA4nIm8

The lamps-check your jumper on the side of the MTH turnout…if it’s missing, your lamp won’t light.
I buy a lot of used MTH items-and I had that issue also…

Good luck.
And remember, it’s no fun if everything works on your railroad-even the real one’s break down😁

Yeah

sure

keep repeating that

maybe someday you’ll convince yourself 😁
