Hello all,

As I continue to rebuild my layout to accommodate the wider curves needed for one of my locomotives, I ran into another issue, I need to make a lightweight, removable elevated track for a prewar, 3 rail 1 gauge line.  I was thinking about making it out 2 pieces of 1x8, 8' long for the sides and two pieces if 1x12 for the ends. Then I'd use 2x2's to raise the platform about 8" to clear everything. My concern is, this is going to be heavy and awkward. Has anyone done this before and if so, any pictures? The 1 gauge loop is just a simple oval, so no switches or double loops, but it's still fairly big. Below is what the layout looks like today with the additional removable section on the left to allow access to the door hatch panels. I couldn't find the exact same color carpet so this new section is a little darker, but not too bad. The proposed elevated section would go 90 degrees of the current track, meaning the ends of the oval would be on the left and right, not front to back, this is to avoid me having to remove the shelves in the back.

Thank you,

Sam
