Terry, gotta ask as I also am thinking of having my 2343s done from when I was six. How expensive was that work?

Beautiful as expected, but they look more like 2353's.
That’s beautiful terry. Better than new! 👍

IT's not expensive when you consider the amount of work time and effort it takes to restore one.
Did he restore them mechanically and electrically as well as cosmetically?
How about an actual $ amount one could expect to pay for exterior restoration? A plus or minus $ would be acceptable as some units would require more labor than others. Thanks in advance.
Len has his prices on his web site.
You can also email him.
He has done 2 GG1s and a Lionel turbine for me. There is none better.
Beautiful work, looks like they just came out of the boxes back around 1954. Might be worthwhile to have my old 2353's redone.
Len did a custom restoration on this former set of Lionel 2344 F3 shells in the Erie paint scheme. I painted the frames with satin Black spray paint.
Len has also restored other F3 shells for me in their original paint scheme :
2353 Santa Fe
2345 Western Pacific
2344 New York Central
I can post pictures if you would like to see them.
Thanks,
Richard

as jeff mentioned, his prices are on his website, Len does stunning restorations....once your hooked, your hooked!...when we had our railroad shop we used to send the ugly shells to Len for his expertise, they would sell instantly with his name attached to them...they are better than new when they come back...make your eyeballs pop out of your head kinda good!
A few years ago, I was lucky enough to pick up at York an A-B-A set of MPC double motored F3's that Len had done in the postwar 2358 B&O scheme. With the flawless paint and added detail they look BETTER than mint originals. And I really lust for the NH Jet done as the Toy Fair / Salesman's sample with "LIONEL" painted on the sides.

Yep, they be 53's.
Those look great. I was going to send a set of 2343 shells to him to restore but I found a screaming deal on a set of nib replacement shells Lionel put out a couple years ago for the CC 2343 F3s, so I used those on my 2343 chassis instead.
