I know this has been addressed before: what’s the sensible way to reattach the wire to the roller on post war Lionel trucks?
I had to do one yesterday, and it was very frustrating.

The car in which I did the work was #2408.
I had to remove the truck, but am not happy with the way I soldered the wire back on: I wasn’t able to access the hole through which to wrap the wire, so I’m not sure how long what I did will last.
You don't have to remove the truck on these, just the wheels & axles with the "bottom frame assembly". This makes access to the solder tab on the roller quite easy... this one does not have the roller, but the idea is the same, it give a lot of room to work with.
