Just finished the paint work on this loco for a friend of mine. It was the last scratch built locomotive by Cal Banse of Youngstown, OH and he passed before he could finish it. The owner told Cal he would make sure it got finished. I felt privalged to finish this master modeler's work. Just thought I would share. Nothing beats good ole American craftsman. Now hopefully this inspired you to go build something!

RRJJF and I stopped at the care facility Cal was in to see him on the way back from the Cleveland show just before Cal passed away. He was a very nice man, always smiling with the exception of the photo of him on a railcar at the beginning of his book on real trains.

That photo shows Cal without a smile, the only time I ever saw him not smiling.

Thanks for the nice words about my work and Cal. I never met the man, but have always heard he was a great guy. Glad we are able to help keep his O scale dream alive at the Youngstown Model Railroad Club as well. Bob- Cal seemed to do quite a bit of building, several people have engines and cars that Cal redetailed or modified. He did great work.
