Hi caljah,

If you kept the designed center rail to center rail spacing the #5 switch makes a nice interlocking. (I didn't say crossover, because that a different track and concept) Not as aggressive as the #5 High Speed, but still not a curvey deal.

You need 40" of dual straight for this arrangement. if you have separately powered loops. remember that you need to isolate the center rail on the divergence of the switches.

I use Ross turnouts with Atlas O track. Gargraves I believe are drop ins for Ross so the answer is yes.

One issue - due to the design of the track you will need to shave off the bottom of the Gargraves track to fit Atlas O rail joiners. Rather than take the chance of messing up the the turnout it would be better to work with short straight sections of track. I use 3" sections on all ends of my Ross turnouts.

Instead of Gargraves track you can use Ross track. They come in 3" sections so you don't need to cut track. You also don't need to cut into the track to fit Atlas rail joiners. You will instead shave off part of the tie bar.

Forgot to mention - one reason I am slowly switching over to Ross turnouts is the simplicity of making them non-derail. All one needs is an isolated ground rail on entry track (I use the 3" straights) plus a wire from the isolated rail to the appropriate terminal on the DZ switch machine. If you use Gargraves turnouts and they are equipped with DZ switch machines the above will work. For that matter if one uses the DZ switch machine on an Atlas O turnout the above applies.

Joe,

The 11° dbl-x is a real nice piece. Used one on a layout design this summer. You'll see it on the forum in the next couple of months. It's cheaper than 4 switches. Sets 4.5" centers, if I recall correctly.
