Hi Folks - this is my first post - great content abounds here!! Thanks to all those that contribute.
I'm in the midst of designing a 100' loop around our cathedral great room. 2 parts of the loop will run in mid-air over walkways vs. along the wall. (approx 8 feet on each). I thought I read somewhere that it's possible to forego the wooden shelf material and simply suspend the track, being sure to have hanging support brackets every so often (i.e. 16" spacing). I also was thinking that Gargraves track would be much more pleasing to the eye for those open-air sections vs. the bulk O Gauge that will surrounding the rest of the room. So I'd switch to the Gargraves when leaving the wall, and then rejoin the Lionel O Gauge on the other side.
I do want to be sure nothing goes flying of course...
I'd love to hear your thoughts or experiences with this sort of thing.
Thanks, and best regards from New Hampshire
