It would probably be added to the tender, do you just want to add sound, not command? You can add nice sound with one of the ERR RailSounds Commander products.
Is the Lionel 6-18003 your locomotive?

Yes that is the correct engine. My layout is updated ZW powered for conventional through two 10 amp fast acting CB's plus one loop for LC+ (DL&W Camelback ) via a 5 amp cb. I am 80 so fine soldering is past tense for me although I can still solder the bus leads and drops. I do not plan on any other command systems.
